Not to be outdone by Sony, Samsung also announced a new rugged 8″ slate at IFA. Samsung’s offering doesn’t quite pack the same punch on the spec sheet as Sony’s new Z3 Tablet Compact but it’s a decent offering nonetheless. Here are the specs:
- 8″ 800×1200 Resolution TFT Display
- 1.2GHZ Quad-Core processor
- 1.5GB RAM
- 16GB Internal Storage
- microSD Card Slot
- 3.1MP Camera
- 1.2MP Front Facing Camera
- 4450mAh Removable Battery
- Android 4.4
Again, pretty average on the specs sheet but the removable battery is a very interesting addition, something we don’t often see in tablets. Based on Samsung’s Press Release, they’ve built this for business and they believe that the average business person will appreciate the rugged exterior and long lasting swappable battery. They’ve also tossed in a stylus called the “C-Pen” so that even if your hands are dirty or you’ve got gloves on you can still interact with your Tab. Samsung, of course, also highlights their KNOX security that is built into their devices.
Again, it’s a decent tablet and I think if Samsung prices it right, they might be able to get some business people on board with the Tab Active.
