Xperia Z1s (aka Xperia Z1 Mini) Will Feature An IPS Display

Xperia Z1s

The Xperia Z1s, aka the Xperia Z1 Mini, could be one of the most sought after sub 5″ phones ever thanks to its top shelf specs and compact frame.  In this day and age, sub 5″ phones are usually treated to more moderate hardware but the Z1s basically goes spec for spec with its older sibling, the Z1.  Here’s what we should expect spec wise:

  • 4.3″ 720p Display
  • 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 Processor
  • Adreno 330 GPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Internal Storage
  • microSD Card Slot
  • 20.7 MP Camera
  • 2MP Camear
  • 2300 mAh Battery
  • IP58 Certified (Dustproof and Water Resistant up to 1 Meter and 30 Minutes)
  • Android 4.2

Besides the screen size and battery size, one other possible difference between the regular and Mini has emerged recently.  According to the user on Digi-Wo who shared the above picture, the Xperia Z1s will feature an IPS display rather than Sony’s Triluminous display, which is found on devices like the Z1 and Z Ultra.  It would definitely be a interesting change for Sony to ditch their new Triluminous displays for the IPS panel but their displays have been constantly criticized for their poor viewing angles so perhaps this is to remedy that complaint.

This story should still be filed in the rumour category for the time being but I would imagine that an official announcement should be coming out soon given how often this device has been leaked lately.  As always, we’ll keep you posted with any new developments.
