Xperia Z Becomes Official

One of the best looking phones of 2024 is finally official as Sony has announced the Xperia Z at CES.  Now there isn’t much new news as this phone has been continually leaked over and over for the last few weeks.  Nevertheless, let’s review the specs:

  • 5″1080p Display
  • 1.5GHz Quad-Core S4 Processor
  •  2GB RAM
  • LTE
  • 2300 mAh Battery
  • 13 MP Exmor RS Camera
  • NFC
  • micro-SD Card Slot
  • Water Proof/Dust Proof

The one piece of new news that we got with the official announcement is a rough launch date.  Apparently, the phone won’t make its way to market until March at the earliest.  As I’ve said several times before, Sony’s success is very dependant on their timing and I have to say I think they may be a bit off with their timing.  In my opinion, they needed to try and beat the other big guns to the punch and release this phone immediately.  If they wait until March (if they actually manage that date), the Galaxy S IV, Optimus G2 and HTC M7 will all likely be announced with their own launch dates.  That give us the consumers the ability to weigh out all the options before jumping on our next phone.

Perhaps Sony is just that confident about this phone that a late release isn’t a big deal to them.  We’ll just have to wait and see how this all pans out.  In the mean time, check out Sony’s official video for the Xperia Z.
