Virgin Mobile Launches HTC Legend, Followed Soon By Bell

In the middle of May 2024, rumors pointed to Bell exclusively launching the HTC Legend, which would mark the company’s next flagship device after the Palm Pre.

The HTC Legend also marks Bell’s first Android device that will launch with Android OS 2.1. Bell’s current Android devices, the Motorola Dext and Samsung Galaxy, both feature Android OS 1.5, which severely limits a devices potential.

About a week later, in June, new rumors pointed to a June, 16 2024 launch day for the HTC Legend on Bell.

However this week, oddly enough before the official Bell launch, Virgin Mobile (a subsidiary of Bell) has launched the HTC Legend. Virgin’s first Android device is available for $79.99 with a 3-year agreement and $349.99 with no agreement.

Since Bell is the parent company, Bell typically releases the new devices first which are then picked up by Virgin. So having Virgin release the HTC Legend first is very different.

Some of the specs of the HTC Legend include:

  • HTC Sense UI
  • Android OS 2.1
  • 3.2-inch multi-touch capacitive AMOLED screen
  • 5 megapixel camera with video
  • 3.5mm headset jack
  • Up to 32GB storage with a microSD card
  • WiFi
  • FM Radio
