The LG Optimus G Pro Is Real And Launching On NTT DoCoMo

Well this is a little bit of a surprise.  The rumoured LG Optimus G Pro has officially been outed by NTT DoCoMo today.  I was expecting this to make its appearance at MWC, but in the world of technology time tends to go a little faster than expected.

Overall, the specs fit in line with all the rumours:

  • 5? 1080p Display
  • 1.7 GHz Snapdragon S4 Processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 32GB Internal Storage
  • 13MP Camera
  • 3000 mAh Battery
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

In addition to some upgraded specs, LG did throw some new little bits of software into this device as well.  In the Optimus G Pro, there will be “Slider Apps” that can be launched atop other apps.  They have also included some software that will allow you to record two videos simultaneously  one through the front facing camera, the other through the rear one.  That sounds kind of nifty.

As I said before, it looks like a decent upgrade over the original but an incremental change rather than a revolutionary one.  And again to reiterate my previous prediction, I believe a G2 will launch this year that will be more of drastic change.

There’s no launch date set for this yet but it will be available to NTT DoCoMo customers in white and black.  Also, no word on a wider release but given that LG is trying to reclaim market share, I’d imagine they’d bring this device to multiple locals.

What do you guys think about the device?  And do you think there’ll be a G2 this year as well?
