The HTC One Mini Is Now Official (Update: Not Coming To Canada)

UPDATE:

Just got word from our HTC contact that this guy will NOT be making its way to Canada.  So if you were hoping to grab one of these it looks like you’re going to have to look online for it.  Things could always change (just like they did with the Xperia Z) but for the time being, no HTC One Mini for us.

The much leaked HTC One Mini has finally been made official.  It wasn’t a surprise by any means as the device has been constantly leaked for what feels like months.  There aren’t any real surprises with the device.  The design is exactly what we expected it to be, a smaller version of the HTC One, and the specs are more or less what we expected them to be:

While it’s definitely not at the same level as it’s flagship namesake, it’s still a very solid mid-level device with a killer screen and great camera.  Internal storage is a bit lacking and battery size is a little bit of a concern to me, especially since both are non expandable/removable.  Nevertheless, if HTC prices this device competitively it’ll make a very compelling mid-level device.

In terms of availability, the press release states that it will begin to launch in August with a wider roll out in September.  No specific countries were listed so we’ll have to wait and see if they decide to bring this guy to the great white north.
