Samsung Unveils Their First Metal Clad Phone,The Galaxy J

Samsung Galaxy J

It’s no secret that Samsung is planning to use metal for their next batch of flagship devices but before they get to the flagships it looks like they’re testing the waters first with the Galaxy J.  The Galaxy J, which was announced today, is Samsung’s first high end device to adopt metal as the primary build material over the usual glossy plastic.

In terms of the specs, it’s a bit of a hybrid between the S4 and Note 3.  It features a Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 13MP camera like the Note 3 but a 5″ display like the S4.  In terms of the design, it looks to be about the same size as the S4 but the overall shape is much more akin to the Note 3.

The device is said to be headed to Taiwan and Japan and chances are the launch won’t get much further than that.  Even though we likely won’t get a chance to ever check out this device here in Canada, it should give us some indication as to where Samsung is headed with their future devices.
