Samsung To Switch To Touch-Based Fingerprint Scanner
With 2024 officially under way, news and rumours regarding this years slew of flagship devices is coming at us fast and furious. Today some rather interesting news regarding Samsung’s next flagship device, currently referred to as the Galaxy S6, has surfaced courtesy of the ultra-reliable Samsung site SamMobile.
According to SamMobile, Samsung is going to ditch their swipe style fingerprint reader on the S6 in favour of a touch-based sensor instead. If you’ve used, or even tested, the fingerprint reader on a Samsung device then you know it’s not the most reliable sensor out there. Regardless of how you feel about Apple, they definitely made the better choice with their touch-based sensor and I’m glad to see Samsung is going to switch it up.
On the software side of things, SamMobile states that there are currently no new features being tested with the new sensor. Current features such as “Fingerprint Unlock,” “Web Sign-In” and “Pay with PayPal” will carry over to whatever software Samsung ends up throwing on the next flagship.
So what do you guys think? Glad that Samsung is making the switch?
