The LG G6 seems to be off to a good start. According to the company itself more than 82,000 LG G6 units were pre-ordered since March 2.
Seeing this, Samsung probably got pretty worried. So it made an unlikely move and ran a Galaxy S8 commercial on Korean television, two weeks before the phone’s official announcement.
According to Kim Dong-won, analyst for KB Securities this represents Samsung’s attempt at keeping LG from dominating the Korean premium smartphone market before the Galaxy S8 arrives.
The same analyst claims that the LG G6’s sales figures on the first day were a record high, compared to its predecessors. The new LG flagship managed to score double and quadruple orders than the Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy A5.
The commercial doesn’t reveal much, but nevertheless it will remind Koreans that the Galaxy S8 is on its way. Hopefully for Samsung – it’s exactly what users in the country need, to keep from buying a LG G6. Don’t worry, folks the phone will be launched soon enough. After which we’ll have another month before the handset will actually start shipping to consumers around the globe.
