We’ve got some good ol’ Marshmallow-y goodness to pass your way! An internal Samsung document detailing their update schedule has leaked out and it’s got a good amount of information on it. According to the document, there will be three phases for the roll out starting with Phase 1 and the Galaxy Note 5. Samsung’s flagship phablet will be first up to bat as it is slated to get the update in December. This shouldn’t be much of a surprise as one lucky T-Mobile customer south of the border somehow received an unfinished version of the software.
Next up will be the Galaxy S6 family which includes the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Edge+. All three devices are expected to get the update in January and the software is currently undergoing testing. The Note 4 and Note Edge are next in line with a February release date and the Galaxy S5 rounds out the confirmed devices as last year’s flagship is expected to get updated in April. Rounding out Phases 1 are the Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 which are all awaiting approval.
Phase 2 includes the Galaxy A8, A5, A3, E7, E5, J7, J5, J2, J1 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and 8.4. The tablets and the A5 are the only real ones of interest for us here in Canada but the only one with a scheduled date is the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 which is expected to get update in April 2024.
The Phase 3 list is pretty short and only includes the Tab A 9.7 and 8.0, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy S4. Unfortunately, the Note 3 and S4 are listed as not approved so anyone with those phone may have to look to XDA if they really want Marshmallow.
