Rumour: LG And Huawei To Each Make A Nexus?

In the midst of all the leaks and chatter leading up to MWC comes a very very very interesting new rumour.  Now before we dive to far into this you need to remember that this is a rumour and should be taken as such.  Now to the story.

According to a source on Chinese microbloggin site Wiebo, Google will be partnering with two different manufacturers this year to produce two new Nexus devices.  One of the manufacturers is said to be LG, the manufacturer behind the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5.  The other manufacturer is said to be a Chinese company, which is definitely a bit of a surprise but a welcome surprise in my books.  Although the Chinese company was not specified, the source did state that there are trying to decide whether to use a Qualcomm chip or their own SoC.  Huawei is probably one of the most well known Chinese manufacturers to be using their own home brewed Hisilicon Kirin chips so speculation is that they are the mystery Chinese manufacturer.

The source goes on to say that LG will likely be taking on the “higher end” device which will likely carry a similar price to the Nexus 6 while Huawei (or whichever Chinese company it ends up being) will tackle the budget device which may carry a Nexus 5 like price.  Given the high specs these Chinese manufacturers put into their “budget” devices, both devices could be pretty top notch.

Again, this is all rumour and speculation at this point but it’s an exciting rumour nonetheless.  If this all plays out to be true, would you buy a Nexus from a Chinese manufacturer or would you stick with the tried and true big name guy.
