Padfone 2 LTE Ready

The Padfone 2 announcement is just a week away.  So we’ll soon be able to see for ourselves how Asus has improved their unique, yet seemingly unpolished, phone/tablet/laptop hybrid.

And just ahead of the announcement we’re seeing the Asus Padfone 2 get it’s mark of approval by the Global Certification Forum (“an independent certification programme to help ensure global interoperability between mobile devices and networks”).  And in addition to getting it’s mark of approval comes news that the device will be LTE-ready.

I’m just getting my first taste of LTE now and, although my coverage is still spotty, I’m starting to understand why many of the carriers in Canada and the US have been pushing for LTE capable devices.  LTE is a huge step over any previous 3G and 4G (if you want to call that HSPA+ network 4G) technology so it’s nice to know these new devices are keeping that in mind.

There’s still no word on whether or not this device will hit this side of the world, but we can at least be hopeful that if it does, it’ll be LTE ready!
