Nokia Allegedly Still Testing Android Handsets

Nokia Android

It was a very sad day when Microsoft announced their acquisition of Nokia.  Not only were hopes of an Android powered Nokia device essentially crushed, but a national treasure was gobbled up at a ridiculously low price.  A week or so after that announcement came a very interesting story that stated that a group of employees over at Nokia were working on Android powered devices long before the acquisition.

You would think that the acquisition would have essentially ceased all work on those devices but according to a new report, those handsets are still being worked on; in fact, Foxconn has apparently already manufactured 10 000 units.  This device isn’t some high powered device, but rather it appeared to be aimed more towards emerging markets as it is powered by the low cost Snapdragon 200 processor.

I have no idea what will become of these phones but I still believe that Android powered Lumia devices would have been a hit on the market and Nokia worked its way back to the top in time.  Here’s to hoping that Nokia somehow finds another way to continue their legacy…
