Motorola Has Plans For A $50 Smartphone!
Motorola is definitely a company on the rise as far as I’m concerned. Everything they’ve been doing lately is just right. The Moto X, for example, showed that specs aren’t everything and that true innovation still exists (Touchless Controls is, in my book, the best innovation last year). The Moto G, on the other hand, showed the world that a brand name smartphone can be good and affordable.
Speaking of affordability, it looks like Motorola thinks they can do even better on that front. In a recent interview with Trusted Reviews, Motorola CEO, Dennis Woodside, hinted at the possibility of an ultra low cost device.
“In much of the world $179 is a lot of money so there’s a big market at a price point of less than $179…
We’re going to look at that and just delivering on that value promise is super important. I mean why can’t these devices be $50? There’s no reason that can’t happen so we’re going to push that.”
While a $50 device probably won’t be the cream of the crop, I don’t think it’ll be a piece of junk either. Motorola has already showed they can put together a very capable device under $200 so I fully believe they can put out a decent device at around $50.
Watch out everyone, Motorola’s coming back!
