So there you have it. As we’ve said time and time again, Sony has done kind of the bare minimum in moving from the Z2 to the Z3. The specs are basically the same and the new design is a toss up (I don’t like the look quite as much but it might be more comfortable thanks to the curved edges). Sound output seems to have gotten a bit more attention but better sound output is hardly a justifiable reason to upgrade. I will say, however, that it is pretty impressive that Sony managed to get the larger Z3 to just 7.3mm thin.
In terms of availability, Sony has stated that they are aiming to launch the Z3 and Z3 Compact in Japan and other regions (wherever that might be) in Autumn (when’s the last time you heard someone use “Autumn”?!?). I imagine that pricing will be on par with the Z2 so you’ll be looking at about $650-$700 outright and probably around $150 on a contract. Once I hear some news about Canadian availability I’ll be sure to update you all.
