LG’s latest flagship phone, the G2, is just a few months old and already LG is said to be readying their next flagship, which we assume will be called the G3.  According to the Korean Herold, the new flagship will feature the ever popular (and still not completely useful) fingerprint scanner.  The finger print scanner is said to be in testing right now and according to the source, they are likely to adopt the swipe style technology opposed to the  that is found on the iPhone 5s.

In addition to the finger print scanner, other rumoured specs include a 2.2GHz Octo-Core processor and a Quad-HD display.  No word on who might be making this rumoured octo-core processors but as far as I can recall, only Samsung and MediaTek are mass producing them currently.  On the software side of things, the device is expected to come with KitKat on board.

The new device is rumoured to make its debut at MWC in Barcelona this February which would make the G2 irrelevant rather quickly.  In addition to the new flagship device, LG is expected to launch a couple of wearable devices including a smartwatch, currently being referred to as the G-Arch, and a fitness wristband, currently referred to as the G-Health.

This news is all rumour at this point but it definitely seems plausible that LG would rush out a new flagship device.  The G2 is a good device but it still isn’t nearly as popular as the main competitor, the Galaxy S4.  Pushing out a new device as soon as possible could help generate some much desired sales.
