Is This The Galaxy S6 Active?
We may have just gotten our first look at Samsung’s ultra durable variant of their flagship device, the Galaxy S6 Active. The above photo was sent in to GSM Arena by anonymous tipster and it sure looks like it could be the upcoming device.
The overall body shape definitely resembles that of the Galaxy S6 with the obvious exception of the reinforced shell. In typical “Active” fashion, the physical home button and accompanying capacitive buttons have been replaced by three reinforced physical buttons. Similar to the S5 Active, the S6 Active appears to have ditched the fingerprint sensor which makes sense as the home button has been replaced.
In addition to providing the photo, the tipster also claims that the S6 Active will pack a much larger 3500 mAh battery. If true, the S6 Active could provide some excellent battery life given that the 2550 mAh battery in the Plain Jane S6 does a pretty solid job. The rest of the specs are expected to match those of the original S6 and Edge.
Although the device pictured above sports AT&T branding, there’s a good chance that the device will come to Canada as the S5 Active hit various carriers last year. We’ll keep an eye out for a release date and pass on any new information we come across.
