Huawei Again Rumoured As Next Nexus Manufacturer

Just about a week ago a rumour surfaced regarding the next manufacturers (yes, that’s plural!) of the next Nexus’(yes also plural!).  According to that rumour, LG as well as an unnamed Chinese manufacturer would be manufacturing the next two Nexus devices.  At that time, speculation was that Huawei was that unnamed manufacturer and today a new source is claiming that that is indeed true.

Kevin Yang, who is the director of Chinese research at iSuppli, claimed on Weibo that Google and Huawei had indeed struck a deal to partner on one of the 2024 Nexus devices.  Although Huawei isn’t a big name here in North America, they are a big force in Asia and have some pretty stellar devices in their line up (check out the Ascend Mate 7 and the Honor 6 Plus).

If this move pans out to be true it could be very beneficial for both parties.  Huawei has generally kept costs of their devices relatively low despite some pretty killer specs so Google could potentially utilize them to recapture that “low” end market while LG, the other rumoured manufacturer of a Nexus device, handles the high end market.  For Huawei, a Nexus device would give them a great platform to show the established North American and European markets just how good their stuff really is, paving a way to more devices from them in the future!

Again, this is still to be filed in the rumour bin but additional information is always a big plus!
