HTC Unveils The HTC One Mini 2 – No Canadian Release Date
As expected, HTC has unveiled the pint sized version of their flagship device, the HTC One M8. Similar to last years mini model, the new HTC One Mini 2 shares the same design as its larger sibling but loses out on some of the high end specs. Speaking of specs, here is the rundown:

- 1.2GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 400 Processor
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB Internal Storage
- microSD Card Slot
- 13MP Camera
- 5MP Front Facing Camera
- 2110mAh Battery
- Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6.0
Again, not too shabby but not great. The big win on this guy, besides the stunning design, is probably the 13MP camera. This is what many had hoped the higher end HTC One (M8) would would be packing instead of the 4MP UltraPixel camera. Again, pixel count isn’t everything but 4MP is a little bit on the insufficient side of things. Hopefully HTC learns their lesson with the M9…. but I digress.
As previously mentioned, the HTC One Mini 2 is nearly identical to its larger sibling, the HTC One M8. It still utilizes metal for the body and features the same curved back and finishes but unlike the M8 , the One Mini 2 does not have a unibody design. There’s actually a break in the metal body making it more similar to the M7. This was likely done in order to keep costs down as this device won’t be selling for the same price as the flagship.
Speaking of price, nothing has been announced yet but as it’s targeting the mid-range market, it’ll likely come in around $400. Now for the sadder news. No American release has been announced at this time. HTC stated that the device will be headed to Europe and Asia beginning in June but nothing more. The one glimmer of hope for those wanting to get this phone is that Canada was not in the initial release plans of the original HTC One Mini yet that device eventually made its way here. I guess time will tell.
