Here’s A List Of The Phones That The Galaxy Gear Will Play Nice With…Eventually
As you all know, the wearable tech craze is underway and smartwatches are the current hot item. Anyone and everyone is bringing their very own smartwatch to market, including Samsung. The Galaxy Gear, Samsung’s take on the smartwatch, was announced with the Galaxy Note III a while back but it hasn’t necessarily been flying off the shelves.
One of the big reasons for the slow sales is that at launch, the Galaxy Gear only worked with the Galaxy Note 3. Not even their flagship device, the S4, worked with the Galaxy Gear at launch. Of course, Samsung promised that device compatibility would grow in time but the limitation was definitely a bummer.
Well today Samsung has announced a collection of devices that would eventually play nice with the Galaxy Gear. These devices include the Galaxy S4, S III, Note II, Galaxy S4 mini, S4 Active, Mega 5.8, Mega 6.3, and S4 Zoom. Basically all of these devices need to get updated to Android 4.3 before they’ll work properly with the Gear. The 4.3 update has began to roll out to international version of the S4 so hopefully it’s not too long before it hits carrier versions.
Samsung had also stated that they might open up compatibility with non-Samsung devices but we’ll have to wait and see if that actually happens.
