Well, there it is! The Nexus 6, by Motorola.
This is Google’s and even Motorola’s first entry into the phablet market. The phone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is the successor to Android 4.4 KitKat released last year with the Nexus 5. The phone itself carries a 5.96-inch QHD AMOLED display (most likely made by Samsung) with 493 ppi, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC clocked at 2.7 GHz, Adreno 420 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage, 13MP front with OIS and 2MP rear cameras alongside stereo speakers!
And about that 13MP rear camera, it actually has an F2.0 lens which does 4K video at 30fps and also has the same dual LED flash setup as the new Moto X.
The battery for the phone is a pretty large at 3220 mAh and it supports turbo charging technology. All it takes is 15 minutes to get up to an additional 6 hours of battery life.
According to Motorola, the phone will start at a VERY steep price of $749 CAD for the 32 GB and possibly $799 for the 64 GB model. Other specs include NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, 802.11ac 2×2 (MIMO), GPS, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Magnetometer, Ambient light sensor and a Barometer for faster GPS lock-in.
I actually don’t know if I’m willing to pay this much to upgrade my Nexus 5 but hey, it’s a Nexus! Preorder’s for the phone start later this month.
