Galaxy S III Screen Shot Confirms Smart Scroll Features
Quite a while back some news broke that Samsung could be expanding the Smart Stay feature to include some sort of eye scrolling feature as well. The idea was that the phone will utilize the front facing camera to track your eye movements and will scroll your page up and down depending on where you’re looking. Well it appears that the new feature is on its way as it has surfaced on a screen shot reportedly from the Galaxy S III.
As you can see in the picture above the feature will be usable your web browsers and your e-mail accounts. However it appears that rather than tracking your eyes to scroll up and down it will be keeping track of your head movements instead. This does seem to make a lot more sense as eye detecting as I could imagine that being extremely finicky, especially since your eyes are likely already moving as you read the page.
As I stated at the beginning of the post, these screen shots are reportedly from a Galaxy S III so it’s not limited to the SIV hardware. That also means that we’ll likely see this on the Note II as well down the road.
I have to commend Samsung on their continued innovation in the feature department. While a lot of these features they’re building into their phones may be seen as gimmicky, they’re still differentiating features that set them apart from the overly crowded Android landscape.
