The Moto X is, in my opinion, one of the most unique devices so far in 2024. Did it have the best processor in the world? No. Did it have the best screen in the world? No. Did it have the best construction in the world? Maybe? But I’d probably still give that to HTC. Does it have a innovative feature that changes the way we interact with our phones? Yes!
The Touchless Controls feature on the Moto X is unique and game changing. While some have concerns about a phone that’s always listening to you, I like the idea and I can’t wait for other phones to adopt this functionality.
One of the biggest drawbacks for the Moto X here in Canada was the exclusive that Rogers held on the device. While it’s completely possible to buy the phone, unlock it, and throw your own SIM in there, many consumers still prefer to purchase their phones on contract to reduce the up front costs. Well the exclusive has, in a way, ended as the device is now headed to Fido as well. Here’s a tweet from Fido yesterday:
OK, Google Now! The Moto X, a powerful LTE Android smartphone is coming to Fido soon!
Now I say “in a way” because Fido is still owned by Rogers so it’s still exclusive in that sense to Rogers. However, Fido does offer cheaper plans than the parent company sometimes they even list the devices a little cheaper too. So while availability is still tied to the Rogers company, a slightly cheaper option could be on the way.
