We had already been hearing that Android 5.0 Lollipop would begin its roll out on November 3 but now we have confirmation straight from the head. Google recently made the Android 5.0 SDK available to developers and also posted the below message:
So November 3 is indeed the day! As previously noted, the Nexus 7 WiFi and Nexus 10 are expected to get the update first while the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 7 LTE will get it later on in the month. It’s kind of funny to see the Nexus 10 getting priority over the much more popular Nexus 5 but this could be a strategic move by Google to do a slower roll out so that they can catch any missed bugs before the new version of the OS is more wide spread.
Developers were also encouraged to begin publishing their updated/new Android 5.0 optimized apps. Hopefully we’ll have a good handful of updated apps ready and available for when we get our first taste of Lollipop!
