BlackBerry KEYone’s Display Isn’t Glued to the Rest of the Device – Video

We were super excited about the arrival of the BlackBerry KEYone smartphone on the Canadian market, but a recent video posted on YouTube by JerryRigEverything makes us wonder whether the phone is truly worth the financial effort.

The YouTuber put the KEYone through a series of tests and at first it appeared the phone was doing quite well. While the keypad scratched quite easily, it continued to be functional. The frame, fingerprint sensor and flash module were all easily damaged, but the fingerprint scanner continued to work.

But when Jerry started tackling the display, everything started going downhill. During a bend test, the display came off. A second bend from the back prevented the display from turning back on. The power button was also damaged, making it impossible to turn on the phone again.

The reason why the display came so easily off is because there’s no glue holding the device’s parts together. But the lack of adhesive might have been part of BlackBerry/TCL’s master plan to allow for easy screen replacements.

Anyway, regardless of the reason behind the move, it’s worth remembering the phone’s display is not firmly attached to its body when you decide to spend $729 on one of these products.
