Android 4.3 has been slowly making its way out to devices over the past couple of weeks and you can now add the Xperia Tablet Z to that list of devices. This update, however, is not coming OTA as most updates do. Instead, you’ll need to download and install the Sony PC Companion program to your computer and grab the update that way.
According to Xperia Blog, the new update brings a new launcher (similar to that found on the Xperia Z1), theme support, the ability to launch multiple Small Apps, and the new Sony Smart Social camera. You can now also have restricted profiles which is a nice touch for families who share their tablet.
It is rather strange that they’re not doing this update OTA but at least it seems to be here. Let us know if you get the update!
