I was already excited for Google I/O to kick off but my excitement just got taken to another level! Why, you may ask? Well because according to Mr. Sundar Pichai himself, who is thee Android guy over at Google, the next version of Android will be previewed at the event! The report comes via Businessweek.com who spoke with Pichai. Apparently, the decision to show off the new version of Android at I/O rather than in the fall is part of a shift towards more transparency. Pichai says that “I want the world to understand what we are doing sooner.”
In addition to news about the new version of Android, the report also confirms that Android Wear and Android TV will also be focal points at Google I/O. Neither are really a surprise as there has been news swirling for a while about both projects. Android TV, however, has not been talked about nearly as much leading up to I/O but I’m excited to see what they do there as well. My hope is that my Sony Google TV box will benefit from the announcement but I’m really not holding my breath whatsoever.
It’s going to be an exciting new couple of days friends!
