Well this sure puts a damper on a day of good news. There’s a new rumour swirling around the web that Key Lime Pie will not make its debut at Google I/O but will be delayed 2-4 months. Why the delay? Well according to the report, it’s not due to the software itself. Rather, Google may be giving OEMs time to get their device up to 4.2 before they launch the next big update.
I’m really hoping that this is nothing more than a rumour but if this does turn out to be true it may be time for Google to re-evaluate their strategies and policies. I understand the whole open source approach and all the freedom Google gives the manufacturers to customize and tweak the OS to their liking. But if Google has to delay update to their OS for everyone to play catch up you’ve got a problem on hand.
I guess we’ll know for sure in about a month or so at Google I/O. What do you guys think? Does Google need to change up their policies to push manufacturers to keep things more up to date?
