No Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 for Galaxy S
I got presented with the question on Google+ whether or not the original Samsung Galaxy S would be getting ICS. Sadly I finally got a solid answer, and it wasn’t what we all wanted.
After a rumor surfaced that the Samsung Galaxy S might get the sweet taste of the Ice Cream Sandwich update, which would take out TouchWiz to make room for the ICS goodness (basically the dream scenario). The hopes of the millions of Galaxy S owners have been squashed, as ICS was confirmed NOT to be coming to the original Galaxy S or its sister phones. It wasn’t a terribly surprising decision, but considering this was the device that put Samsung on the map for Android users it would have been nice if they could have pulled it off.
Samsung devices that will not be updated to Android 4.0
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S Captivate
Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate
Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7
This doesn’t mean you are left sulking in the corner with no one to pay attention to you, there are rom cookers such as Cyanogen and others who could quite possibly deliver the goods to you. No doubt ICS is the thing nearly every Android owner wants, so I remain faithful that someone will step up and provide their rendition of ICS for you Galaxy S owners.
