Good news for those of you who were wanting to breathe some new life into your “old” HTC One X or One X+. It appears that a pretty significant software update has begun to roll out globally for these devices. This update brings these devices software more in line with the current flagship, the HTC One. In addition to bringing Android 4.2.2 to the table, the HTC One X/X+ is also treated to HTC’s new UI, Sense 5.
Sense 5 is definitely one of the best iterations of the skin in the companies history and one of my personal favourite OEM skins (although at the end of the day, I still prefer the stock Android experience). Some of the unique features found in Sense 5 include BlinkFeed and the new Zoe camera feature. I actually found BlinkFeed to be rather useful and used it much more than I thought I would ;however, I still am not sold on Zoe. The concept is good and I will admit it has grown on me a bit, but I still don’t find myself using it regularly. Perhaps I just need to give it more time.
If you happen to have an international unlocked version of the phone, you may have already received the update notification. If not, sit tight, I’m sure it’s coming. For those of you who purchased the One X/X+ through one of the carriers here, you’ll have to wait a little longer as it’s likely the update still needs to go through that wonderful thing we all know as “carrier testing.” Nevertheless, it’s good to see that the update is on the way.
