First Android 4.4 Build Leaks For The Moto X

Moto X Android 4.4 - 3

It looks like we’ve got a new Motorola on our hands boys and girls!  As you all know, Motorola has been a Google company for roughly a couple of years but it was until recently that Google’s influence began to be felt.  The Moto X and the current Droid series were supposedly the first devices to have Google’s fingerprints on them and it definitely shows.  The devices have rid of the Moto Blur junk customizations of past devices in favour of  a relatively stock Android experience.  And as a result of that choice it seems that Motorola is able to get to work on its updates much quicker as an early build for Android 4.4 for the Moto X has leaked online.

The build is for the TMobile variants of the device so I would probably advise against flashing it onto your device.  The build is said to bring updates to Touchless Control, Active Display and the Camera as well some KitKat features like built in SMS in Hangouts and an updated keyboard.  It does not have the new Google Experience launcher but it can sideloaded with the leaked APK.  I also noticed that the settings icon is definitely in the new Android 4.4 style yet the icons in the notification bar are still blue rather than white.

While the final build is likely still a little ways off it’s very encouraging to see how quickly Motorola is working on updates these days.  The KitKat announcement was barely a week ago and they’ve already got something put together!  Let’s hope the other manufacturers are keeping up with this pace!
