Samsung Galaxy Gear Specs Leaks
We’re now just two weeks away from the rumoured September 4th unveiling date for both the Galaxy Note III and the Galaxy Gear and the information just keeps on coming. We have already seen a couple of renders based on a patent application from Samsung that left everybody out there drooling and now we’re receiving finer details on the upcoming smartwatch.
The Galaxy Gear ‘smartphone companion’ is rumoured to sport a 2.5-inch OLED full colour display with a 320×320 resolution, which doesn’t match the rectangular shaped screen found on the renders. The smartwatch will have the usual touchscreen gestures and accelerometer, but will lack a text-input method, possibly due to screen size – a good place to try out the Minuum Keyboard and its compact design. Under the display the Galaxy Gear is rumoured to feature a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos 4212 processor and Mali-400MP4 GPU, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC to easily connect your smartwatch to your phone.
According to rumours, the device is already in developers hands powered by either Android 4.1 or 4.2, but will presumably use apps from the Samsung App Store and not from the Google Play Store. However, the popular social media apps like Twitter and Facebook will be supported, as well as a collection of health apps to take on sport watches.
With all the recent rumours it seems the only thing missing is to know battery life, pricing and final design as the device has been rumoured for release a month after it is unveiled.
