REVIEW: Kraut Attack
If you like tower defence games, like me, you’ve seen a lot of them, and you’re always willing to give another a try.
I had a request to give Kraut Attack a whirl… and I was reticent at first, my wife’s background is German, and as a general rule I try to stay away from ethnic epithets…
Anyway, I tried it out.
At first, it seemed pretty simple. There wasn’t a lot of options, so you’d think it was straight forward. But I was getting my butt handed to me, time and time again. It just didn’t seem to be possible to pass the first level.
It really took me a while to keep trying at it. Then even when I’d lose, I’d swear it’d say I won, so it just seemed glitchy. The ‘help’ didn’t seem all that helpful, and it just seemed pretty bare bones. It took me a while to understand how to upgrade (as only one ever was visible), or when units needed restocking… which seemed vague in itself.
The animation isn’t as fluid as you’d expect (say off of RoboDefense or Radiant, etc…) as the bullets were hard to see and the life meters didn’t really seem to respond to what was happening (there was quite the delay).
But, yet, I kept playing it. I think that’s the key here, about it and any of these kinds of games. You keep trying. Some magic formula will eventually work and you’ll be on your way.
Give it a whirl for yourself. It has an initial put off kind of feel to it, but you’ll slowly find yourself pushing through that to eventually want to conquer it. Trust me.
