Google Planning Its Own Android Messenger?

Rumours around the net indicate that Google might be planning an Android to Android messenger, simular to Apple’s iMessage and BBM. A bit of confusion follows this rumour, as Android phones already come with Google Talk.

The Wall Street Journal states, “Google Inc., whose Android software is the most popular operating system on smartphones, has also recently worked on a messaging application, a person familiar with the matter said.”   No addition details were giving as to confirmation or release dates.

Would Google really make an Android to Android messenger? Or would they enhance the Google Talk app with more functions?
