Google Launches Dedicated Docs, Sheets Apps in the Play Store
Google has launched standalone Docs and Sheets apps in the Play Store and for iOS as well. This means you no longer will have to use Google Drive as your main point of access for documents and such.
Starting today, you can download new, standalone mobile apps for Docs and Sheets—with Slides coming soon. Need to find a spreadsheet? Go to the Sheets app. Need to create a document? Go to the Docs app. They’re all right there at your fingertips.
When you open the new apps, you’ll see your most recently edited files, which means less time searching and scrolling.
The best part is there’s support for offline access to create or edit docs.
It looks like an odd move for Google to debut yet more apps, when users can use Google Drive to access their documents. Too much or do you applaud this move?
On the iOS side of things, the recent launch of Office for iPad might have played a factor as Google probably wants to make it easier for people to work using their apps too.
