Google+ 2.0 leaked out in the wild… download with caution

So, I, like most of you enjoyed a full Thanksgiving weekend.  I came home and saw that there were just tons of leaks from the ICS pre-release.

Google Music 4.0 was out, but I heard that it was missing the ‘wifi only’ option, so I’ve been a little wary of trying it out [I eventually did, and there’s not much different].

There’s a new Market as well, but I can wait.

Google+ 2.0  – I love G+, so I tried it out.  Now there’s a TON of sites out there giving you a screen by screen playback.  I’m just going to tell you some of the things you’ll notice and my impression.

First off – there’s no more widget.  Luckily my launcher let’s me make a shortcut to an activity [more on the launcher war later] and had to dig to find the specific activity to post.

the icon in the top corner is my shortcut to post

Then you’ll notice the screen layout of the home is different.  Nothing spectacular – but having the notifications not be a pull-up is a nice change.

From there you’ll see Messaging is now “Chord”.  Not sure about that.  Also, the Circles now has options to help find people for you to connect with – tho’ not as extensive as the web app.

There’ll be some minor UI changes here and there, but the one that sticks out for me the most is the very contrasty icons now for navigation.  On the home screen they look fine, but in the stream it kinda ‘negates’.  Not liking that.

Look it over for yourself.  What is missing is some of the settings for the instant upload – they’ve simplified it.  However, for me it still isn’t automatically updating.

If you want a copy of it to install, you can do so by going to our friends over at AndroidPolice.  The trick will be to uninstall the current version and then install this one.

I find that after, Market wants you to update it [not asking me now currently tho’].

In the end, I think I might just move back to the regular version as this isn’t anything spectacular – but I do like having ‘the latest’.
