Mugen Power 4000mAh Extended Battery for Galaxy Nexus Review
Mugen Power has graciously allowed me to do another battery review for them. I had great pleasure doing the first for them in the past using my Galaxy S II, which can be found here. When they offered me a second review, I jumped for joy at the opportunity.
As I said last time. If there’s one thing Android users across the world can stand unanimous on, it’s the thirst for better battery life. Some Android phones handle the punishment we throw at them, where others could use that extra push. When we need that extra push, we can turn to Mugen Power to deliver a premium battery for our everyday use.
Mugen Power was kind enough to send me a battery to play with and test. Just like my previous experience, I have nothing but good things to say.
If you follow me on Google+, you’ll know that I have tried many brands of cheap china brands of extended batteries. Although these cheap china batteries get the job done, they are never able to deliver the double battery life as advertised. Mugen Power’s batteries on the other hand deliver more than I could ever hope for. All going back to the basic principal of ‘you get what you pay for’.
After a full days use of this 4000mAh Mugen Power battery for my i9250 GSM Galaxy Nexus, I ended the day with 67% battery. I have posted many times what my average day consists of, some of our readers of labeled me a “Music Monster”.
On average I listen to 8 hours of streamed bluetooth music at work, along with several emails and texts during that time. After my 8 hour shift, I ended up with 85% which is outstanding to say the least. At the end of the night I went to sleep with 70% battery life, and I consider myself a heavy user. No matter how much punishment I delivered to this Mugen Power battery, it just wouldn’t quit.
The 4000 mAh battery comes with an extended door cover, which also has a kickstand attached to it. The overall girth gained by using this battery is approximately 60%, which is average for any extended battery + door combo. This case keeps my phone slim enough to still be able to fit in my universal dock which is a huge plus in my books.
Another feature I very quickly discovered is the design of the Mugen Power Door cover elevates your back speaker off the ground. No more muffled or unheard notifications due to your Galaxy Nexus laying on its back on your couch or bed, which I suffered from numerous times.
I highly recommend this battery for the power hungry Android user, I guarantee it will satisfy any style of users battery needs.
NFC: On a side note. Unlike other extended batteries, NFC still works with this Mugen Power battery installed.
