Andy Rubin Leaving Android
Some pretty big news has come out of the Google camp today. CEO Larry Page posted on the Google Blog today that Andy Rubin will be leaving the Android team to “start a new chapter at Google.”
In case you’re unfamiliar with Mr. Rubin here he is the essentially the father of Android. He is the co-founder of Android and is the only boss that the Android division over at Google has ever had. The good news is that he isn’t leaving Google. There weren’t any details as to what he’ll be doing at Google now that he’s passed the Android reigns over but people are speculating that he may take on a bigger role with the Glass project.
Taking Andy’s place will be Sundar Pichai, who is also the head of Google Chrome. This itself is an interesting move as it is fueling the idea that Chrome and Android will eventually merge into a single operating system. Personally, I’m not convinced that Google will move this way but you never know.
For now we wish Andy Rubin the best of luck and look forward to whatever he ends up doing in the future
