Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Codes Are In Your Phone!

I can name so many reasons why you would want to unlock your phone. Higher resale value, no more ridiculous roaming fees from our lovely Canadian carriers and freedom to switch between carriers just to name a few.

Now usually, manufacturers lock your phone to the carrier you buy it from and keep your unlock codes somewhere on their servers. This time, Samsung decided they’re gonna keep that unlock code right inside your very own phone. You didn’t think the guys at XDA-Developers wouldn’t let that one slip by did you Sammy?

Now mind you, getting to that code isn’t a one click process but it just takes digging around a little bit. Hey, it sure beats paying $30 for someone else to do it for you or even worse, getting scammed out of your money. And if you’re worried about losing that precious warranty, they’ve also got a way for you to lock it right back up like nothing ever happened.

So if you own a Galaxy S and are feeling a little adventurous on this glorious Monday, go ahead and give it a shot. By the way, WIND’s 3G will work perfectly on the Vibrant after you unlock so now you’ve got yourself a sweet phone that works on pretty much any carrier with 3G, at least here in Canada. Info and all the instructions are right in the source link below.

Update: Looks like the Bell I9000 (our Canadian Vibrant) won’t work with WIND’s 3G even after the unlock. [Thanks, CMS!]
