Dell Re-Joins The Android World In A New Way

Dell broke onto the Android scene very early on and introduced the first phone that we might categorize as a phablet, the Dell Streak.  But things didn’t pan out well at all and they eventually pulled the plug on their Android venture.  Well it looks like they’re back for round two, but in a very different way.

Dell has introduced a little device that is called Project Ophelia.  What you have here is a little dongle that plugs into HDMI display to convert it into an Android powered device.  The little dongle isn’t much bigger than a USB stick and brings Android 4.0 to whatever display you can get a hold of.  The device can then be connected to a keyboard and mouse via bluetooth and can access the web, or even your computer if you have that set up properly, via Wi-Fi.

One of the nicest things about this little gizmo is that it doesn’t require any batteries or power source.  Rather it draws power from the display itself which makes it a real grab and go device.  I’m not too sure how well this will work but I love how Android has introduced a whole new way of computing.  Check out the full press release below:
