Samsung To Begin Mass Production Of AMOLED Displays For Tablets

AMOLED Samsung

One of Samsung’s biggest claims to fame in the mobile tech world (and in the tech world in general) is their AMOLED Displays.  These displays offer true blacks and super vibrant and vivid colours.  Up till now, only one Samsung tablet has ever sported this type of display, the Galaxy Tab 7.7.  The main reason for the absence of AMOLED displays on tablets is that the cost of manufacturing these screens for tablets was not cost effective but it looks like things are about to change.

According to Korean site ETNews, Samsung is readying to enter mass production for tablet sized AMOLED display as early as next month.  It appears that Samsung has managed to find a way to cut costs enough to make this a cost effective endeavour; however, costs aren’t quite low enough that we’ll be seeing these on every new Samsung tablet.   The displays will, for the time being, be reserved for their higher end devices which means they will carry a premium price.

Hopefully the price isn’t too high as I love Samsung’s AMOLED displays and would love to snag a tablet with one of those beauty displays!
