After much speculation and various contradictory reports, Nokia and Android are together again although this time they’re coming together in the tablet market. Nokia announced their new tablet today, the Nokia N1, an Android 5.0 Lollipop powered 7.9″ slate. Here are the full specs:
- 7.9″ 2048×1536 Resolution Display with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio (seems like this is the new go to screen ratio)
- 64-Bit 2.3Ghz Quad-Core Atom Z3580 Processor
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB Internal Storage
- 8MP Camera
- 5MP Front Facing Camera
- 5300 mAh Battery
- Type-C Reversible MicroUSB Port
Unlike the Android powered Nokia smartphones, this tablet is running a more traditional version of Android 5.0 but comes preloaded with Nokia’s Z Launcher, which wasn’t half bad in my experience. It’s currently not known if this will come preloaded with Google’s apps but there’s always ways around that.
In addition to some pretty nice looking specs, the price also makes it worth a look. The current price is set at just $249! That’s right, just $249! Unfortunately, the device is headed for China first and then Russia. There’s no word on a wider availability but I’m sure that if it does well in those first two countries, Nokia will consider a wider launch.
What do you guys think? Would you pick up a Nokia tablet? Still hoping for a true Nokia Android Smartphone?
