Nexus 7 Sequel To Start At $229?

Just yesterday we got our first glance at the upcoming Nexus 7 sequel.  For the most part, the device looks similar to the original (but really, you can only do so much with a rectangle) and the specs are about where we expected them to be with more or less everything getting some upgrading.

The thing that really helped sell the original device though was the rock bottom price and with all the upgraded equipment, some wondered if Google/Asus would be able to keep the device competitive.  Well based on this picture of an leaked inventory screen, the device will remain competitively priced, on par with other 7″ tablets and a good amount below the iPad mini which really is the main competition.

As you can see above, the 16GB variant is slotted at $229 and the 32GB is slotted at $269.  The current Nexus 7 is priced on the Play Store at $209 for the 16GB and $259 for the 32GB so these prices for the upcoming model seem reasonable enough.  While a little cheaper would always be welcome, I’ll be ready to purchase when they become available as I’ve been holding out on replacing my cracked screen Nexus 7.
