Amazon Announces Two New Snapdrago 800 Powered Tablets!

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX

Amazon has just announced two new tablets and they’re definitely worth a look or two.  Let’s run through the specs, shall we?

Kindle Fire HDX

Kindle Fire HDX 8.9

In addition to some killer internals, the shell got an upgrade as well as each devices features a magnesium unibody shell.  Other features include an updated Fire OS (running on top of Android of course), a new MayDay Button that directly connects you with an Amazon expert (only available in the US for now), and of course Amazon’s vast ecosystem (although a lot of that ecosystem is still limited to the US).

In terms of pricing, Amazon has still kept these slates ultra affordable despite all the upgrades.  The Kindle Fire HDX will start at $229, $269, and $309 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB respectively.  The slightly larger Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 will start at $379, $429, and $479 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB respectively.  If you want LTE connectivity you’ll have to shell out an extra $100 on top of whichever model you choose.  And if you don’t want any advertising showing up on your tablet, the price increases another $15.  All of these prices are in USD and may differ once this becomes available in Canada.

Speaking of availability, the tablets are now available for pre-order in the US but shipping for the 7″ model won’t start till October 18 while the 8.9″ model won’t ship till November 7.  If you need an LTE capable device those will come a roughly a month later.
