If you’re in the market for a low cost entry level phone, the newly announced Sony Xperia J may be that phone. It is currently available on both Bell and Virgin at the outright price of $180 and $150 respectively and it runs some decent specs for the price:
- 4″ Dispaly with 854×280 Resolutio
- 1GHZ Processor
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB Internal Storage
- microSD Card Slot
- 5MP Camera
- Front Facing Camera
- Android 4.1
I know what you’re thinking. ”No 1080p? No Quad-Core? No 2GB RAM?” Well this is not a flagship device, its’ an entry level. And I have to say when you compare it to some of the other entry level’s on the market, you have to admit it’s one of the best looking and has some of the best specs for a phone in that price range. Plus, it’s running Android 4.1 which means things should run fairly smooth!
If you decide to sign a 2 or 3-year Voice or Voice/Data contract with Bell you get the phone for $0. If you set it up with a Silver Plan on Virgin and take advantage of their tab you can also get it down to $0. Could be a good option for the kids?
