We all kind of knew that a Galaxy S5 Mini was in the works but now it is official. Samsung has just announced their “pint” sized pseudo flagship and once again it’s not near the level as its namesake but it’s a decent device nonetheless. Here are the specs:
- 4.5″ 720p Super AMOLED Display
- 1.4GHz Quad-Core Exynos 3470 Processor
- 1,5GB RAM
- 16GB Internal Storage
- microSD Card Slot
- 8MP Camera
- 2.1MP Front Facing Camera
- 2100 mAh Battery
- IP67 Dust and Water Resitant
- Fingerprint Sensor and Heart Rate Monitor
- Android 4.4
The downgraded specs were definitely expected but it’s a nice surprise to see that Samsung kept some of the S5 features on board such as the fingerprint reader, heart rate monitor, and dust and water resistance. These inclusions definitely separate this Mini from other Mini devices out there but I’m sure many out there would still like to see some of these companies follow Sony’s footsteps in creating true flagship miniatures.
The phone will come in the same four colours as the larger S5, Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold, and will begin its global roll out mid-July. There’s a very good chance we get this device here in Canada s we’ve been treated to the S3 Mini and S4 Mini in previous years.
