LG Will Debut The Optimus G2 On August 7

Myster LG 2

LG sent out invitations earlier this week to an event that they would be holding in New York.  At the time there was no word on what would be announced but speculation was that it would be the upcoming sequel, the Optimus G2.  Well according to Techtastic, it’s no longer speculation but rather fact that LG will debut their next flagship phone on August 7.

Current rumoured specs for the Optimus G2 are a 5.5″ 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 processor, Adreno 330 GPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP Camera.  Android 4.2.2 is said to be running the show with LG’s custom UI laying over top.  The specs don’t seem out of this world so it’s very likely that this is what we’ll find in LG’s next phone.  All in all a good successor to the device that helped bring LG back into relevancy.

In addition to the Optimus G2, a couple of other devices are expected to debut on August 7; one mid range device and one low end device.  The mid ranger will be the Optimus L9 II which will feature a 4.7″ 720p display, Snapdragon 400 processor (clocked at 1.4GHz) and NFC.  It will run Android 4.1.2 out of the box but you have to think 4.2 will come soon after that.

The low end device is currently known only by it’s model number, D500.  That device is said to feature 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, Adreno 302 GPU, qHD display, 3MP Camera, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0.  That one will also run 4.1.2 out of the box.

August isn’t too far away so if you have an upgrade coming up perhaps you’ll want to hold out to see the latest and greatest from LG before deciding on your next phone.
