Well it looks like there could be another big competitor in the Android Smartphone market as Huawei has announced two great looking phones that will be launching this year. The Huawei Ascend D2 and Huawei Ascend Mate made their official débuts at CES and I have to say these devices look great. Here’s the specs for both:
Ascend D2
- 5″1080p Display
- Quad-Core Processor
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB Internal Storage
- 13MP Camera with BSI and HDR
- 3000 mAh Battery
- Water Resistant
Ascend Mate
- 6.1″1280×720 Resolution Display
- Quad-Core Processor
- 2GB RAM (I’m assuming?)
- 32GB Internal Storage (Another Guess)
- 8MP Camera
- 4050 mAh Battery
The Ascend D2 definitely looks better on paper with its 1080p display and amazing camera. The massive battery doesn’t hurt either as battery life is one of the major complaints for Smartphones these days. The Ascend Mate is no slouch either though. With it’s massive 6.1″ display it’s not the phone for everyone. But for those who are looking for a phablet, perhaps another challenger has entered the field.
In terms of a North American launch, the D2 could make its way to our side of the world in Q2. The giant Ascend Mate doesn’t currently have any North American launch plans but it has the radios to be compatible so it’s very possible we could see that one too.
Man, it’s only the first week of the year and thing are already getting competitive.
