Lots of Canadians have been eagerly waiting to purchase the Google Home – the company’s intelligent smart speaker powered by the Google Assistant.
Now Google has officially announced the device in the country. Customers can place a pre-order for it at Best Buy Canada or the Google Store for $179 CAD a pop. Expect the speaker to ship out starting June 26.
Google just announced a major update for the Google Home at its I/O 2024 conference which will bring built-in recognition technology (Google Lens), as well as the ability to type in your request and to pay for stuff via voice commands.
Now Canadian customers will be able to purchase Google’s alternative. What’s more the Assistant onboard is said to be able to converse in both English and French. That’s not the only good piece of news coming from behalf of Google. Android Pay – the search giant’s own mobile payment service officially landed in the country.
The intelligent speaker ecosystem is seeing a vast expansion in recent times. Amazon, for example, just unveiled a successor to its original Amazon Echo product, which includes a display. Microsoft will soon roll out its Invoke speaker which is powered by Cortana and Apple revealed today their own music speaker powered by Siri, HomePod.
