With the Galaxy S8 just around the corner, some Samsung smartphones are currently being retired by carriers around the world. It’s the case of Bell Canada and their sub-brand Virgin Mobile which have just declared the Galaxy S6 has reached the end-of-life.
It’s a bit earlier than expected, but nevertheless the less it does makes sense with the new flagship coming. Also, the new Galaxy A5 (2024) is also expected to make an appearance in retail soon enough. The white version of the Galaxy S6 has already been discontinued, but not all colours are being eliminated from the carriers’ portfolio.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch display with QHD display (2560 x 1440 resolution) and Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It has an octa-core Exynos 7420 SoC on the inside with 3GB of RAM with 32GB/64GB/128GB onboard. It has been a good run.
Towards the end of the March, Samsung is expected to unveil the highly anticipated Galaxy S8. The phone should be one of the first phones to have a Snapdragon 835. It will also come equipped with an iris scanner and a virtual assistant (Bixby).
The Galaxy S8 will also have minimal bezels and for the first time in the Galaxy S’s family history – the device will come without a physical button.
